2018 ESPN 1420 Sports Festival presented by United Healthcare Community Plan

The 2018 ESPN 1420 Sports Festival presented by United Healthcare Community Plan is set for Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Neal Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall. Festival hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is absolutely FREE!

This year’s Festival will once again provide a full slate of sports activities and demonstrations, as well as contests, giveaways, and an expanded Sports Expo spotlighting the latest sports-, health- and fitness-related products and services. Now in its eighth year, the Sports Festival is a fun-filled family event designed for sports fans of all ages.

June 11, 2018: Former UH women’s volleyball All-American Nikki Taylor will appear at Saturday’s ESPN 1420 Sports Festival. Taylor, one of the best to ever wear a Rainbow Wahine uniform, will meet fans and sign autographs.

May 31, 2018: Got the need for speed? Learn all about indoor go-kart racing at our Sports Festival! Our friends at K1 Speed in Kapolei will have a booth at our event, and they’re planning to bring a demo go-kart/car for kids to sit in and take pictures. They’ll also have interactive games and prizes!

May 30, 2018: Looking for Bruno Mars tickets? At the ESPN 1420 Sports Festival, we’ll be giving away a pair of tickets to the pop sensation’s November 10 concert at Aloha Stadium. To enter our prize drawing, simply take part in our “Sports Challenge” activity (visiting various vendor booths and activities) and turn in your completed card. More details to come!

May 30, 2018: UFC fighter Louis Smolka will be appearing at our Sports Festival! The fearless flyweight from Kapolei will be on hand to meet fans and sign autographs. Come meet “Da Last Samurai”!

May 24, 2018: Take part in our first-ever Pizza Eating Contest presented by our friends at Mama Manoa Pizza, Wings and Greens, and you may win a $100 gift certificate to Mama Manoa! It’s all part of our ESPN 1420 Sports Festival! The contest is limited to six participants, and there is no entry fee. May 17, 2018: The Taiko Center of the Pacific, led by Artistic Director Kenny Endo, will have a special performance at this year’s Sports Festival. They’ll demonstrate their art from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. in the Action Zone. Come see contemporary Japanese drumming at its finest!

May 17, 2018: Ready to get your Zumba on? Debbie Azama-Park will lead a fun and lively Zumba session for interested participants at 11:00 in the Action Zone! Come ready to break a sweat!

May 17, 2018: Former UH football and NFL standout Rich Miano will bring his Hawaii Speed & Quickness/Flex Football crew to the ESPN 1420 Sports Festival! Take part in various drills and learn how you can enhance your speed and agility. Look for Rich and his staff in the Speed & Quickness Zone throughout the day!

May 8, 2018: We are pleased to announce that Aloha United Way will be the official beneficiary of this year’s ESPN 1420 Sports Festival presented by United Healthcare Community Plan. AUW supports more than 300 nonprofit organizations in Hawaii and strives to “bring resources, organizations and people together to advance the health, education and financial stability of every person in our community.”

May 7, 2018: We can now announce that the Aloha Table Tennis Association will return to the 2018 Sports Festival at the Blaisdell! Check out their Table Tennis Zone and take part in their fun-filled “Ping Pong Carnival,” featuring games, prizes and more! Learn about the game of table tennis and have fun!

MAY 4, 2018: Tennis, anyone? The Hawaii Pacific Section of the U.S. Tennis Association will be on hand at the Sports Festival to provide hands-on tennis instruction, tips and more. Learn from the best and have fun playing tennis!

MAY 4, 2018: Enter the fun-tastic Game Zone at this year’s Sports Festival and compete in Super Smash Brothers and more interactive esport games!

MAY 4, 2018: Hawaii’s strongest men and women will compete at this year’s ESPN 1420 Sports Festival presented by United Healthcare Community Plan! Come check out the second annual Tommy Kono Open, an Olympic-style weightlifting tournament!

May 4, 2018: Take your best shot(s) and win round-trip air transportation for two wherever Alaska Airlines flies! A brand new event at this year’s Sports Festival is the Alaska Airlines Shootout, where contestants (aged 18 and above) take part in a hotshots-style competition. Details are being finalized as we speak, so stay tuned!

May 3, 2018: World champion professional surfer Carissa Moore will appear at the ESPN 1420 Sports Festival! Carissa will meet fans and sign autographs in the Subaru Hawai’i Zone from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

April 3, 2018: For the first time ever, the ESPN 1420 Sports Festival will host a championship event: The Pacific Masters of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu presented by Cutter Auto. This is your opportunity to see some of Hawaii’s finest practitioners of the martial arts display their skills in top-flight competition! Divisions will include Mighty Mite, Pee Wee, Junior, Junior Teen, Teen, Adult and Masters. For more information, go HERE.

April 3, 2018: Ready for some hard-hitting mat mayhem? The stars of Action Zone Wrestling, Hawaii’s only professional wrestling promotion, will once again be a part of our Sports Festival. From body slams and drop kicks to suplexes and death-defying dives off the top rope, you won’t want to miss the free matches that will be held throughout the day!
