ESPN Honolulu Sports Festival presented by UnitedHealthcare Community Plan
The 2019 ESPN Honolulu Sports Festival presented by UnitedHealthcare Community Plan will be held on Saturday, June 15 (9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) at the Neal Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall. Now in its ninth year, the Sports Festival will once again include a wide array of hands-on sports activities, demonstrations, contests, giveaways and a Sports Expo. Admission to the event is FREE.

MEET PISA TINOISAMOA! The former University of Hawai’i and LA Rams linebacker will be at the #ESPNSportsFest from 11 a.m. to noon.

June 6, 2019: Be sure to visit the UnitedHealthcare Community Plan Fun Zone this year, as once again they’ll be giving away some awesome prizes! In fact, they’ll be giving away a scooter at 11:30 a.m.; and 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. And at 3:30 p.m., they’ll give away a cool bike! June 4, 2019: Oh, it’s on now! Our friends at Pups of War will be hosting fun-filled Nerf Gun battles at this year’s Sports Festival. Look for them in the Pikake Room in the Exhibition Hall. This is a safe and fun activity for participants of all ages!
June 4, 2019: Our good friends from Hawaii Optimum Performance will be a part of this year’s Sports Festival. Learn how to train like a pro and enhance your athletic skills and performance. Designed for aspiring athletes of all ages!
June 4, 2019: New to this year’s Sports Festival is LudoSport – an exciting and unique combat sport using – take a deep breath, Star Wars fans – actual light sabers! A team from LudoSport Hawaii will be on hand to provide expert demonstrations as well as let the keiki try their hand at this growing sport!
June 4, 2019: While at the Sports Festival, get a quick health check courtesy of Hono Women’s Health! They’ll be happy to check your vital signs (blood pressure, body temperature, heart rate, etc.) and give you important information on managing your overall health.
MAY 17, 2019: Take a deep dive into Hawaii sports history by checking out the Hawaii Sports Hall of Fame exhibit at this year’s Sports Festival! Learn more about the Aloha State’s greatest sports figures, from surfing legend Rell Sunn to four-time Super Bowl champion Jesse Sapolu!
MAY 17, 2019: Take your best shot for round-trip transportation ANYWHERE that Alaska Airlines flies! Enter our First Insurance Shootout at the ESPN Honolulu Sports Festival – a timed hotshot-style competition open to all comers. There’s a $10 entry fee for the contest – you can enter up to three times – and the proceeds will directly benefit Aloha United Way. Great cause, great prize, great fun! MAY 17, 2019: Get ready to rumble! The stars of Unify Championship Entertainment (UCE), Hawaii’s only professional wrestling promotion, will take part in this year’s Sports Festival! Root for your favorite UCE heroes and villains of UCE as they do battle in the squared circle. For more information about UCE, click HERE.
MAY 10, 2019: Back by popular demand, our friends at Pacific Masters of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu will be holding a big competition at this year’s Sports Festival. Come see these dedicated martial artists compete in this combat sport that focuses on grappling and ground fighting.
MAY 10, 2019: Once again, the ESPN Honolulu Sports Festival will host the Tommy Kono Open. Now in its third year, the event brings together Hawaii’s top power lifters for a full day of competition. Men and women will compete in Junior, Youth, Masters and Open divisions. The event is named for the late, great Tommy Kono, the two-time Olympic gold medalist who set world records in four different weight classes.
MAY 10, 2019: This year’s ESPN Honolulu Sports Festival will feature a VEX Robotics Challenge, featuring a new competitive event called “Tower Takeover.” The event was announced at this year’s VEX World Championships in Louisville. Each match will pit two alliances against each other. At the end of the qualifying matches, the top eight teams will pick their alliance partners for the finals (single elimination). ADDITIONAL INFO.
FEB. 21, 2019: A big component of the event is ESPN 1420’s “Sports Expo” – a sports marketplace spotlighting the latest new products and services. Every year, thousands of consumers come through our Expo, checking out everything from athletic apparel and gym memberships to nutritional products and sports collectibles. If you have a sports-related product or service, the ESPN 1420 Sports Expo is a great way to reach your target audience! FEB. 21, 2019: This year’s Sports Festival will see the return of a kama’aina family favorite – Hawaii’s own “Chris Da Clown.” Chris will appear at the event with balloon creations for all the keiki from noon to 2:00 p.m.!
