ESPN Honolulu Scrapbook #10

It’s time again to turn back the pages of our ESPN Honolulu archives. This time around, we only take a shallow dive, revisiting images from 2018 and 2019. They were certainly eventful years, filled with big names, special events and memorable moments. Our essay today highlights just some of the events and promotions members of our ESPN team took part in, including the Sports Festival, Downtown Rally, trivia contests and more. Take a look!

 

September 2019: ESPN Honolulu’s Bobby Curran (right) and “Lil’” Guy Yoshimura hosted a Sports Trivia Team Challenge event at SALT at Our Kaka’ako.

August 2019: Former Rainbow Warrior wide receiver DeWayne Jett returned to the Islands to attend a special dinner that paid tribute to his beloved coach, the late Dick Tomey.

July 2018: Future Detroit Lion linebacker Jahlani Tavai (right) and his younger brother Justus greeted fans at a UH pep rally in downtown Honolulu.

September 2018: (L-R) R.J. Hollis, Chris Hart and Gary Dickman share a moment during a break in their “Countdown to Kickoff” pregame show.

June 2018: World surfing champion Carissa Moore was a special guest at our 2018 ESPN Sports Festival presented by UnitedHealthcare Community Plan.

September 2018: Members of the 2018 Little League World Series champions took part in some UH football pregame fun at Aloha Stadium.

August 2019: Members of the UH men’s basketball team took part in a downtown Honolulu pep rally. From left: Drew Buggs, Head Coach Eran Ganot, Zoar Nedd, Justin Hemsley and Samuta Avea.
