Pure Horse Power

In case you missed it, Tiz the Law captured this year’s Belmont Stakes race on June 20. The Belmont is traditionally the third and final event of horse racing’s famous Triple Crown Series. Due to COVID-19, however, this year the Belmont was the first leg of the Triple Crown. While Tiz the Law’s run was certainly impressive, it didn’t come close to the historic performance Secretariat had in the 1973 Belmont. The thoroughbred set a still-standing American record for the 1.5-mile distance (2:24 flat). No wonder Secretariat is regarded as one of the greatest horses in racing history.

Don’t believe us? Here’s the ’73 Belmont in its entirety. Prepare to be amazed.
