Halloween, 2014. A Big West Conference road trip nearly got off to a very, very spooky start. At UC Irvine, it was all tricks, no treats for UH as the Anteaters led UH 2-0 (25-21, 25-22). UCI was looking for their first-ever win against the Rainbow Wahine (UCI was 0-31 against UH coming into this match) and even had a match point opportunity at 24-23. It just was not meant to be. Three straight points between Kalei Adolpho and Tai Manu-Olevao gave UH the set 3 victory 26-24. After that, it was all Hawai`i. Led by the double-double performances of Tayler Higgins (53 assists, career-high 19 digs), Nikki Taylor (10 kills, 12 digs) and Tai Manu-Olevao (career-high 21 kills, 15 digs), the ‘Bows stormed back to win sets 4 (25-18) and 5 (15-7) to achieve the reverse sweep and maintain that all-time perfect record against UC Irvine.
