College Football’s Greatest Entrance?

When Virginia Tech installed a new state-of-the-art scoreboard at Lane Stadium in 2000, officials wanted to celebrate the occasion by introducing a new entrance song to play as the team ran onto the field. Guns N’ Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle” and the Alan Parsons Project’s “Sirius” were considered, but those songs were already fairly commonplace at sporting venues. Something different was desired.

Exit: Light. Enter: Night.

This, Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” has been rocking Lane Stadium for every Hokies home game since Aug. 27, 2000. It just may be the greatest, most electric entrance in college football (if not the entire sports world) – complete with fireworks and 65,000 fans clapping and jumping in unison. Check out the video feature below and think about how our Rainbow Warriors might be able to do something similar.

And remember, sleep with one eye open!
