Interview: Jesse Sapolu

Four-time Super Bowl champion Jesse Sapolu joined “The Sports Animals” yesterday for a wide-ranging conversation that touched on a number of subjects, including being nominated to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the current state of the San Francisco 49ers and this Saturday’s Hawaii-Fresno State game.

Sapolu, who starred at Farrington High School, is considered one of the greatest offensive linemen in the history of University of Hawaii football. The 49ers selected him in the 11th round of the 1983 NFL Draft. Sapolu developed into a two-time Pro Bowl center for the 49ers, helping his team win the Super Bowl in 1985, ‘89, ‘90 and ‘95.

Sapolu is a co-founder of the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame.
