Which Team Would Win?

By Lance Tominaga, ESPN Honolulu Web Editor.

June Jones (76 victories) and Dick Tomey (63) are the two winningest head coaches in the Division I era of University of Hawaii football. Tomey brought the program to national prominence during his 10-season tenure (1977-86), while Jones elevated Hawaii to new heights in his nine years at the helm (1999-2007), including leading the Rainbow Warriors to the 2008 Sugar Bowl.

I wondered, If you took the best players from the Tomey era and pit them against the top players from the Jones era, which team would win? The JJ roster, of course, would include guys like Colt Brennan, Timmy Chang, Chad Owens and Pisa Tinoisamoa. Tomey’s lineup, meanwhile, would undoubtedly include the Noga brothers, Jesse Sapolu, Gary Allen and Rich Miano.
