Kamehameha successfully defended their 2019 D1 Girls Volleyball State Championship last night by stunning No. 1-ranked Punahou in three sets, sweeping the Buffanblu 25-18, 25-15 and 25-22. Tournament MOP Devin Kahahawai led the Warriors with a match-high 16 kills, while fellow senior Maui Robins contributed 14 kills and 15 digs. Lulu Uluave led the Punahou attack with 10 kills and 12 digs.

In the D2 title game, University Lab outlasted Le Jardin in a five-set thriller to capture their first state championship since 1990. The Jr. Bows prevailed, 28-26, 25-19, 19-25, 22-25 and 15-9.

The Jr. Bows’ Milan Ah Yat was spectacular, driving home 32 kills and taking home Tournament MOP honors. Setter Makena Tong had 56 assists. For Le Jardin, Reese Diersbock (21 kills) and Sydnee Walker (17).
