On a night that was about more than just a football game, Lahainaluna began their 2023 season against Baldwin and came out on top 42-0.
For a crowd of about 5,000 fans, it certainly sounded like 10,000, as chants of “Maui Strong” and “Lunas” echoed throughout the night at Wailuku’s War Memorial Stadium. The Lunas’ Quarterback Lyric Kahala was on fire, completing 11 of 17 pass attempts and recording three touchdowns on the night.
The Lunas held a 28-0 lead at the half and tacked on two more touchdowns in the second half to seal their first win!
The Lunas return to the field next Saturday, October 7 and will take on Maui High (1-4) while Baldwin (0-5) will look for their first win against King Kekaulike on Friday, October 6.
