Kamehameha-Hawaii Claims First State Title Since 2008

Kamehameha-Hawaii completed its long-awaited redemption, defeating Mid-Pacific 2-1 to win the Motiv8 Foundation/HHSAA Division II Girls Soccer State Championship.

After falling short in previous seasons, including last year’s heartbreaking loss in the final, the Warriors finally secured their first state title since 2008.

Mid-Pacific struck first in the 48th minute when Eva Hand capitalized on a defensive miscue, giving the Owls a 1-0 lead. The Warriors, who hadn’t conceded a goal in two months, responded with relentless pressure.

In the 72nd minute, Alyssa Hudman netted the equalizer, curling a shot past the keeper. Just three minutes later, Madisyn Meyers sealed the win, heading in the game-winner off a Mikaila Aina corner kick.

Meyers, named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player, redeemed herself after missing a crucial penalty in last year’s final. With key players returning next season, Kamehameha-Hawaii looks to build on this championship run.
