Braddahhood Grindz Expands Its Mission to Inspire Hawai‘i’s Next Generation of Athletes

What began four years ago as a small group of four restaurant owners feeding the University of Hawai‘i football team has now grown into a major community initiative. Braddahhood Grindz, now backed by 25 restaurants and 50 corporate sponsors, supports over 300 student-athletes with meals, career development opportunities, internships, and full-time job placements.

Marking its fourth year, Braddahhood Grindz is entering a new phase of community impact by launching a partnership with the Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association (HHSAA). The new program connects high school athletes with current college players, creating opportunities for mentorship, networking, and inspiration.

The announcement was made during a press conference at Giovanni Pastrami, coinciding with the kickoff of Braddahhood Grindz’s fourth year of service. The event brought together the University of Hawai‘i men’s volleyball team—fresh off a Big West title—and the 2024 HHSAA state champion volleyball teams: Kamehameha-Kapalama (Division I) and University Lab (Division II).

The initiative aims to help high school athletes envision their potential future in college athletics, while also offering college players a chance to give back and reflect on their own journeys. It’s a meaningful exchange rooted in community values and the belief in uplifting the next generation—both on and off the field.
