Hawai‘i Advances to NCAA Semifinals with Gritty Win Over Penn State

The University of Hawai‘i men’s volleyball team rallied past Penn State in four sets (25-19, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23) to advance to the NCAA semifinals at the Covelli Center—site of their 2021 national title.

Freshman Finn Kearney led UH with 16 kills and four aces, sparking a comeback after an early 8-point deficit. Middle blockers Justin Todd and Kurt Nusterer combined for 17 kills and seven blocks, with Todd sealing the match on his final swing. Louis Sakanoko added nine kills and three aces, while setter Tread Rosenthal tallied 38 assists and five kills.

UH (27-5) faces rival UCLA (21-6) in Saturday’s semifinal, a rematch of last year’s national championship.
