Campbell Grad Cairah Curran Named WCC Player of the Year

Santa Clara sophomore Cairah Curran, a proud Campbell High School alum from Ewa Beach, Hawai‘i, has been named the West Coast Conference (WCC) Player of the Year after a phenomenal 2024 season.

Curran led the WCC in five major offensive categories: batting average (.429), runs scored (49), hits (78), triples (5), and stolen bases (26). Her 78 hits set a new WCC single-season record, surpassing the previous mark of 76 set by BYU’s Gordy Bravo in 2015.

Starting all 52 games for the Broncos, Curran was the spark plug at the top of the lineup, reaching base in 48 games and collecting hits in 46 of them. She tallied 23 multi-hit games and recorded a 16-game hitting streak, showcasing her remarkable consistency and speed.

Curran becomes just the second player in program history to earn WCC Player of the Year honors, following her teammate who won the award last season. Santa Clara swept the WCC’s major awards and had eight players earn All-WCC recognition after winning the WCC Championship and earning the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament berth.

Curran’s standout season not only solidified her place among the WCC’s elite but also made history for Santa Clara softball.
