The University of Hawai‘i baseball team took a big step toward the postseason with a 6-3 win over UC San Diego on Thursday night at Les Murakami Stadium.
The victory puts the Rainbow Warriors (32-18, 15-13 Big West) one win away from clinching a spot in the Big West Conference Tournament, with two games left in the series.
Hawai‘i capitalized on timely hitting to take control. Senior shortstop Jordan Donahue delivered a go-ahead two-run single in the fourth, while right fielder Jared Quandt went 3-for-3 with a walk. Third baseman Elijah Ickes added an RBI triple in his return to the home lineup.
UH used a mix of arms on the mound, with Freddy Rodriguez earning the win in relief and Isaiah Magdaleno locking down the final 2 2/3 innings for his seventh save.
The ‘Bows will look to seal a tournament spot Friday night at the Les. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m.
