As the University of Hawaii prepares to join the Mountain West Conference full-time next year, UH President Wendy Hensel announced that the athletics director position will offer a competitive salary ranging from $375,000 to $500,000 annually. The compensation package also includes relocation expenses and potential bonuses.
The role became vacant after former athletics director Craig Angelos was dismissed in December. Angelos has since reapplied for the position.
President Hensel emphasized that the increased salary range is designed to attract the best candidate to lead UH’s athletic programs during this important transition. She added that the university is committed to taking the necessary time to find the right fit, aiming to complete the hiring process by summer.
