Hawai‘i Baseball suffered a tough 7-5 defeat to top-seeded UC Irvine on Thursday in the Big West Conference tournament, pushing them into the elimination bracket.
Despite a late surge fueled by Ben Zeigler-Namoa’s three-run homer, UH couldn’t overcome the Anteaters, who remain a dominant force this season. The loss means Hawai‘i must now win four straight games in the knockout stage to claim the Big West title and secure an automatic NCAA Tournament bid.
The Rainbow Warriors will face the loser of Thursday’s Cal State Fullerton vs. Cal Poly game at 4 p.m. Hawaii time on Friday, with the exact timing dependent on the length of the earlier game.
