After falling to the Kamehameha Warriors a year ago, the ‘Iolani Raiders reclaimed the state crown, sweeping the Kahuku Red Raiders to capture their fifth state championship in program history.
Sophomore middle blocker Elle Arceneaux led the charge for ‘Iolani (17-1, 11-1 ILH), posting 10 kills and three block assists while coming up clutch in key moments to help secure the title.
Junior Poema Kalama-Kingma, an Oregon Beach Volleyball commit, powered the offense with a team-high 11 kills, adding four aces and seven digs in a strong all-around effort.
Senior setter Bailey Nakalehua, who will continue her career at Ohio State, paced the attack with 36 assists, along with two kills, two aces, and five digs.
Defensively, senior libero Maddix Taniguchi, a Temple commit, anchored the back row with a team-leading 18 digs.
For Kahuku (14-2, 11-1 OIA), senior outside hitter Lamona Lahuignoa led the Red Raiders with nine kills, one ace, and 11 digs, a standout performance for the first OIA team to reach the state championship match in 23 years.
