Summer Olympics

The Olympic Games pick up the action with a widened slate of competitions. Simone Biles also makes her return to Olympic competition. The first swimming medals are awarded and Nyjah Houston highlights the skateboarding competition. What else is on at the Olympics? We've got you covered.

Among Saturday's events, archery, cycling, fencing, judo, shooting, taekwondo and weightlifting will be awarding medals.

Top event: Skateboarding (8 p.m. ET, 11 p.m. ET): The sport makes its Olympic debut. For Team USA, all eyes will be on Nyjah Huston. The Davis, California, native is a 12-time X Games gold medalist.

Olympic athletes to watch

Gymnastics: Biles is two medals from tying the American gymnastics record held by Shannon Miller. Biles is also trying to become just the third gymnast to win consecutive all-around gold medals. Her quest for those begins Saturday.

Swimming: The star-studded American team -- with Katie Ledecky and Caeleb Dressel -- will be in the pool tonight. In Tokyo, Ledecky will race in the 200-, 400-, 800- and, for the first time in Olympic history, the 1,500-meter freestyle races.

Top Olympic storylines

• According to Caesars Sportsbook by William Hill, the women of Team USA are favored at +125 to take gold in the Olympics' first 3-on-3 basketball tournament. Serbia's men's team is favored at the same spread.

• For the first time since 1996, Michael Phelps won't participate in any swimming events for Team USA.
