November 23, 2007 was a night to remember. In front of a sold-out crowd at Aloha Stadium, the University of Hawaii football team beat Boise State, 39-27, to capture its first outright WAC championship. QB Colt Brennan passed for 495 yards and five TDs, including two to Davone Bess. “There was just an understanding that we weren’t going to be beat today,” said Brennan, who would go on to finish third in the Heisman Trophy race. The following week, Hawaii beat Washington to cap an undefeated regular season and earn a trip to the BCS Sugar Bowl.
