Tennis Ace: Petra Melounova

University of Hawaii tennis player Petra Melounova has already carved her place in the UH record books. The senior from the Czech Republic is perhaps the greatest tennis player in program history, reaching the NCAA Tournament as a singles competitor for three straight seasons. Last year, the All-American reached the Round of 16 despite dealing with a lingering shoulder injury. ESPN Honolulu recently sat down with Melounova and got her thoughts about her her goals for her senior season, her love for the game, overcoming injuries, and representing the university and the state of Hawaii.

Be sure to check out the 2020 Wahine Experience, a grand celebration of Rainbow Wahine Athletics! This FREE event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 1 at UH’s T.C. Ching Field (3:00 to 5:00 p.m.). Girls and boys eighth grade and below will be able to participate in hands-on sports activities and games. They’ll also be able to meet their favorite Rainbow Wahine players, coaches and alumni. Plus, free T-shirts (while supplies last) and tickets to that night’s women’s and men’s basketball doubleheader!
