November 13, 2004. It’s senior night and no one celebrates Senior Nights like the state of Hawai‘i. A crowd of more than 9,800 filled the Stan Sheriff Center to give thanks to a very, very special team. Undefeated and ranked second in the nation, the Rainbow Wahine faced an 0-2 deficit in the match against Nevada after losing sets 1 and 2 by scores of 27-30 and 33-35. The Bows and the Wolf Pack had already played a five-setter earlier in the season. Could UH keep the unbeaten season alive? Led by Alicia Arnott’s 25-kill, 10-dig performance, the Bows won sets 3 and 4 by scores of 30-20 and 30-26 to force the deciding fifth set. Setter Kanoe Kamana`o had 61 assists and 16 digs, Victoria Prince recorded 13 kills and 8 blocks, Tara Hittle added 13 kills and 15 digs, while Susie Boogaard put down 17 kills and 11 digs. More Manoa Magic as UH won the fifth set 15-6 to complete the comeback. The win completed UH’s sixthstraight perfect conference season in WAC play and added another WAC regular season title trophy to the case. It would also be UH’s fifth 5-set victory on the season. The 2004 squad finished the season 30-1, for a NCAA leading win percentage of .968.
