If you could put together an all-time University of Hawaii women’s basketball team, who would you include? We put together a 13-player roster that we feel would win a lot of games and make a run in any NCAA Tournament. Our lineup has scorers, distributors, defenders, sharpshooters and hustle players – all the ingredients needed for a winning team. And the chef who will be in charge of putting the ingredients together, of course, is UH Sports Circle of Honor inductee, Vince Goo. Here’s our team:
C – KENDIS LEEBURG: 6-3 post player was a two-time all-conference selection. Finished her UH career with 1,266 points and 539 boards.
F – JUDY MOSLEY: Hands down, the greatest player in Rainbow Wahine basketball history. The program’s all-time leader in scoring and rebounds. On this team, she would contribute 20 points/12 rebounds every game.
F – KYLIE GALLOWAY: Averaged 15.7 points per game in three seasons at UH. Ranks second in career three-point percentage (.485).
G – NANI COCKETT: Perhaps the most versatile player in program history. The Kamehameha product is one of only two Rainbow Wahine players to record more than 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 250 assists and 200 steals. Her overall game would complement Mosley’s inside presence nicely, giving UH a tremendous 1-2 punch.
G – JANEVIA TAYLOR: Relentless and gritty competitor who finished her Rainbow Wahine career in the Top 10 in nine different categories.
OFF THE BENCH:
C – MEGAN HUFF: Talented player who came over from the volleyball team. Twice named Big West “sixth Plyer of the Year.”
F – RAYLENE HOWARD: A former two-time All-American and WAC Player of the Year. A model of consistency. Scored in double figures in 56 straight games.
F – KAMILAH JACKSON: Along with Mosley, Jackson is the only UH player to finish her career with more than 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. Led the Rainbow Wahine in both scoring and rebounds for all four seasons in the program.
F – KAUI WAKITA: The hard-working swing player from Hilo was a two-time All-Big West selection and is one of only four players in program history to record more than 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 250 assists.
G – MEGAN TINNIN: The program’s leader in career three-point field goals (167). Led the team in three-point goals made for three seasons. On this team, she can be counted on to provide instant offense from beyond the arc.
G – BJ ITOMAN: Hawaii’s career assist leader and consummate floor general who would provide hustle, defense and exceptional basketball IQ.
G – SHAWNA-LEI KUEHU: Another all-around talent who could score, defend, distribute and rebound. One of the greatest players in Hawaii high school history.
G – JANKA GABRIELOVA: You can never have too many ball handlers who can dish the ball. A floor wizard who had a knack for making big plays.
HEAD COACH: VINCE GOO
