Waipahu Beats Radford In Home Opener, 35-7

Waipahu vs Radford | August 26, 2022

August 27, 2022 | By Cole Cabrera

The Waipahu Marauders dominated their 2022 home opener, as they took down the rams of Radford 35-7 on a pristine Friday night in Waipahu. Radford started the scoring early, with Joel Gillies connecting with Kalob Victorino-Avilla for a 12-yard touchdown coming on their first possession of the game.

The Marauders then went on to score 35 unanswered points, with 21 of their points scored in the second quarter. The Marauders were led by Junior quarterback, Joshua Manu, who accounted for four touchdowns on 369 yards passing.

Liatama Uiliata had himself a fantasy football first-round pick type of day, as we hooked up with Manu for three touchdowns on 15 receptions for 172 yards. This combo has been making their case as one of the best duos in prep football this season.

On the defensive side, Arjay Kelemete cemented the Waipahu front that gave the rams problems all night, as Kelemete accounted for three sacks on the night. The Waipahu defense also found themselves with three takeaways on the night via the interception. Both teams will have a bye this week and suit up again on Sept 9, with Radford traveling to Roosevelt and Waipahu hosting Farrington.
