Road To The Ship- 2023 Boy's DI & DII Basketball State Tournament

The Road To The Ship is back to cover the 2023 Division I and Division II Heide & Cook Boy’s Basketball State Championship! Pearl City High School students, Bobby Best and Mia Ha-Rozewski host this week’s episode and share the highlights and post game interviews!

At the Division II level, the Kohala Cowboys corral their second state championship in three years against the University Lab Junior Bows. Kohala’s Layden Kauka hit a jump shot with six seconds remaining in the 4th quarter to help the Cowboys take a two point lead and ultimately win the championship, 40-38.

At the Division I level, Campbell looked to capitalize on their first trip to the state championship game but the defending state champs, the Saint Louis Crusaders had other plans. The Crusader’s Pupu Sepulona scored a team-high 15 points to help Saint Louis win back to back state championships, 41-39!
