The Division 1 baseball semi-final round capped off with a highly anticipated game between the 2023 ILH Champs, Kamehameha-Kapalama, and the 2023 OIA Champs, Campbell.
Campbell’s Shaveh Sarono and Kamehameha’s Alakai Kiakona were dealing on the mound through the first two innings as the score remained 0-0.
In the bottom of the third, Kamehameha’s Jayden Montero reached first on a walk and uses his wheels to steal second and third base. Pono Nakano’s sacrifice fly to right field put Kamehameha on top, 1-0.
The Vanderbilt commit, Aukai Kea added on two more runs in the third inning as a soft dribbler made for a difficult play for the Campbell third baseman. Kamehameha took a 3-0 lead as Elijah Ickes and Jace Souza scored on the errant throw.
The Warrior’s Logan Sanchez comes in to finish the job in the top of the 7th inning and help the Warriors to get back to the Championship game where they look to win their first state championship since 2003.
