The Maui AJA Baseball League cemented its legacy this past weekend at the 88th Annual Hawaii State AJA Baseball Championship, claiming its third consecutive state title with back-to-back wins at Hilo’s Dr. Francis Wong Stadium.
On Saturday, April 5, 2025, Maui faced off against Kauai’s Kalaheo Farmers, pulling away late for a 9-6 victory. Behind steady pitching and timely hitting, Maui advanced to the championship game on Sunday, April 6, where they met Oahu’s Waialae team in a dramatic showdown.
The title game turned into an instant classic, stretching into extra innings as both teams battled in a tense, back-and-forth contest. In the bottom of the 11th inning, Maui sealed the deal with a clutch run, edging Oahu 5-4 and securing their place in AJA baseball history.
Jacob Chong was named State Tournament MVP, anchoring the team throughout the weekend.

The championship adds to Maui’s growing legacy in AJA baseball, now with three consecutive state titles—an impressive feat considering the competitiveness of the league and the talent across the islands.
