On July 22, 2025, more than 50 of Hawai‘i’s top student-athletes gathered at Prince Waikiki for the Braddahhood & Sistahhood Grindz “Next Level Leadership Workshop” — a powerful event focused on personal growth, career readiness, and life beyond athletics.
Spearheaded by community leader Ryan Tanaka, the workshop featured a dynamic lineup of local professionals who shared their expertise on everything from building a personal brand and navigating NIL to mental resilience, emotional intelligence, financial literacy, and storytelling.
“This isn’t just about sports,” said Tanaka. “It’s about helping our youth discover their purpose, develop confidence, and build connections that will serve them for the rest of their lives.”
Guided by emcee Artie Wilson of ESPN Honolulu, the half-day workshop gave student-athletes the chance to reflect, learn, and engage in hands-on sessions. Speakers included leaders from diverse industries — hospitality, media, business, finance, and wellness — all sharing tools and insights to help young athletes thrive in every aspect of life.
Following the workshop, participants took part in a guided property tour led by Prince Waikiki’s hospitality team, gaining a behind-the-scenes look at career opportunities in Hawai‘i’s hotel industry.
The “Next Level Leadership Workshop” is part of a broader mission by Braddahhood & Sistahhood Grindz to uplift and empower Hawai‘i’s next generation through mentorship, networking, and community-driven events.
