A familiar foe has arrived in Mānoa this transfer portal season.

Former Arizona State and CSUN forward Marcus Adams Jr. is the first transfer commitment of the spring window for Hawai‘i ahead of the 2026 college basketball season.

Adams Jr. has faced the Rainbow Warriors three times—once as a Sun Devil and twice as a Matador.

“Hawai‘i was the first school to reach out to me in the portal, so it obviously left a big impression,” Adams Jr. said. “They showed the most interest and were the most invested. They were able to see my skill set because I played UH three times.”

Adams Jr. logged just 10 minutes and scored two points in his most recent stint at Arizona State. However, at CSUN, he posted 21 points, eight rebounds and two assists in 36 minutes in a dramatic comeback victory over Hawai‘i during the 2024–25 season.

That year, Adams Jr. averaged 16.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steal per game for the Matadors, helping propel him back to the Power Five level with Arizona State.

A four-star recruit out of Narbonne High School in Los Angeles, Adams Jr. originally signed with Kansas before transferring to BYU, then CSUN and Arizona State.

Adams Jr.’s scoring ability and experience at multiple levels could provide an immediate boost for a Hawai‘i team looking to add offensive firepower heading into its first season in the Mountain West Conference.

“It’s a dream come true to come play for the islands,” Adams Jr. said.
