Holloway Defeats McGregor by First-Round TKO

Conor McGregor's long-awaited return to the Octagon lasted just 1:09 on Saturday night after he suffered an apparent right knee injury in the opening moments of his welterweight bout against Waianae's Max Holloway at UFC 329.

Competing for the first time in more than five years, McGregor landed awkwardly after throwing a flying kick to begin the fight. He attempted to continue, but was unable to put weight on his leg, forcing the referee to stop the contest and award Holloway a first-round TKO victory.

The injury is believed to be a torn ACL, according to UFC President Dana White.

The win evened Holloway's career series with McGregor at 1-1 after McGregor earned a unanimous decision victory in their first meeting 13 years ago.

On the preliminary card, Oʻahu's Kai Kamaka III fell to England's Luke Riley by first-round TKO at the 3:03 mark.
