Moanalua (13-1) | 17 | 17 | 22 | 0 |
Erica Roberts and Alexis Rodriguez combined for 25 kills, with Anae Asuncion notching 29 assists to lead No. 5 Mililani to a sweep of No. 3 Moanalua in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I girls volleyball tournament championship match on Wednesday night. Mililani claimed their first league crown since 2019, and it marked their fifth overall title, all under the guidance of longtime coach Val Crabbe. The Trojans’ victory was fueled by solid defense and serve-receive skills, while they targeted Moanalua’s standout hitter, Malu Garcia, disrupting their offense. The Trojans finished with 37 kills to Moanalua’s 28, limiting Garcia to twelve kills. Mililani’s strong blocking and Moanalua’s attack errors were also key factors in the match. The spirited crowd of about 600 fans witnessed Mililani finish as the sole undefeated team in the OIA, with a record of 13-0, while Moanalua suffered their first loss, ending the season at 12-1. Both teams will advance to the New City Nissan/HHSAA Division I State Championships.
