Island Defended Twice – To be a factor in the conference race, the math is kind of simple: win at home and at worst, split on the road. Five homestands (10 matches) and four road-trips (eight matches) is how the Mountain West Conference set up UH’s first year in the conference.

With the calendar turned to October, Hawai`i hit the road as arguably the last team in the country to play a true road match. While they did go to Las Vegas two weeks prior, it was a neutral site non-conference tournament that the Rainbow Wahine played host to. 

The Rainbow Wahine continued their perfect start to Mountain West play with a 25-23, 25-21, 25-10 sweep of Grand Canyon on Saturday in Phoenix.

Preseason picked to finish fifth in the 10-team Mountain West Conference, the way UH’s conference schedule was made, it just happened that teams below them would come to the island and they’d travel to the teams picked above them.

Kamehameha Schools alum Adrianna Arquette recorded 120 assists and averaged 9.23 assists per set to help the Rainbow Wahine finish 2-1 and earn runner-up honors at the Lucky Aces Women’s Volleyball Invitational.

After sweeping Texas A&M–Corpus Christi, 3-0, and outlasting Iowa State, 3-2, Hawai‘i will face UCLA for the Lucky Aces Women’s Volleyball Invitational title tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. HST.

Panna Ratkai averaged four kills per set during the Outrigger Invitational and received its top honor…Most Outstanding Player.

The Rainbow Wahine opened the OUTRIGGER Invitational with a straight-set win over Utah Tech on Thursday at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.

1. Walker’s First Win - For a program coming off its first ever losing season, then seeing an offseason include its Head Coach stepping down in late April (April 29th) and its successor hired on June 5th, there was an unusual amount of buzz and optimism throughout the summer as the Rainbow Wahine got ready for its season opener.

The Rainbow Wahine pushed No. 21 Baylor to the limit Saturday night before falling in five sets at Bankoh Arena.

UH Wahine Volleyball made a strong first impression under first-year head coach Joshua Walker, sweeping Chaminade 25-20, 25-16, 25-10 in its first appearance at Bankoh Arena.

The University of Hawaiʻi has selected Joshua Walker as the next head coach of the Rainbow Wahine volleyball program.

Robyn Ah Mow is stepping down as head coach of the University of Hawai‘i women’s volleyball program, bringing an end to a nine-year chapter that kept the Rainbow Wahine among the Big West’s elite and a consistent presence on the national stage.

After being swept on the road by the Cal State Northridge Matadors, the University of Hawai‘i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team avenged that loss in emphatic fashion, defeating the Matadors in straight sets last night.

The Rainbow Wahine were firing on all cylinders, racking up 40 kills as a team while committing only nine errors for a .316 hitting percentage on the night. Hawai‘i also delivered nine service aces, treating this match with playoff-like intensity.

Already up 24-14 in the third set, sophomore setter Adrianna Arquette found the ball for a set, setting up a signature play.

As Arquette lifted the ball, sophomore middle blocker Miliana Sylvester slid from her middle pin spot, initiating her trademark Rainbow Slide and slamming the ball down on the other side of the net.

Benches cleared, and the Stan Sheriff Center erupted.
