End of an Era: Robyn Ah Mow Steps Down as Hawai‘i Wahine Head Coach
Robyn Ah Mow is stepping down as head coach of the University of Hawai‘i women’s volleyball program, bringing an end to a nine-year chapter that kept the Rainbow Wahine among the Big West’s elite and a consistent presence on the national stage.
Since taking over in 2017, Ah Mow guided Hawai‘i to a 165-72 overall record and a commanding 114-28 mark in conference play. Her teams captured three Big West regular-season titles and won back-to-back conference championships in 2023 and 2024, while earning seven NCAA Tournament berths, including a regional semifinal appearance in 2019.
A former All-American setter for the Wahine, Ah Mow’s connection to the program runs deep. From standout player to assistant coach and eventually head coach, she carried on the legacy of longtime coach Dave Shoji while shaping a new era defined by consistency, toughness, and player development. She was recognized as Big West Coach of the Year three times during her tenure.
Associate head coach Kaleo Baxter will step in as interim head coach as the university begins a national search for its next leader.
Ah Mow’s impact stretches far beyond wins and championships. A two-time All-American during her playing career and an Olympic silver medalist with Team USA, she leaves behind a legacy built on excellence, pride, and a lifelong connection to Hawai‘i volleyball that will continue to resonate across the program.
