Hawaiʻi's Heather Mau Celebrates NBA Championship with Knicks

Honolulu native Heather Mau is celebrating an NBA championship after helping the New York Knicks capture their first NBA title in 53 years.

Mau, a Maryknoll School graduate, serves as the Knicks' Senior Athletic Trainer. She was named to the position in September 2024 after spending five seasons with the Dallas Mavericks as an Assistant Athletic Trainer.

Prior to her time in Dallas, Mau spent three seasons as Head Athletic Trainer for the South Bay Lakers, the NBA G League affiliate of the Los Angeles Lakers. She also worked at UC Riverside and Cal State Northridge before beginning her NBA career.

Mau earned a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Adelphi University, where she was a four-year member of the women's volleyball team, and later received her master's degree in Athletic Training from California Baptist University.

The Knicks secured the NBA championship with a 4-1 series victory over the San Antonio Spurs, ending a 53-year title drought and giving Mau her first NBA championship as a member of the organization.
