HPU to Launch Hawaiʻi’s First Collegiate Surf Team

Hawaiʻi Pacific University will launch the state’s first collegiate surf team in spring 2027, becoming the first university in Hawaiʻi to officially recognize surfing as a collegiate sport. The team will compete in shortboard and longboard events across the islands before concluding its inaugural season at the NSSA Championship in Dana Point, California, from June 11–13, 2027.
