No. 2 Hawaiβi Sweeps NJIT to Open 2026 Season at Home
As 5,685 fans rose to their feet in set three at the Bank of Hawaiβi Arena inside the Stan Sheriff Center, the University of Hawaiβi menβs volleyball team prepared to receive the serve from NJIT, already holding a commanding 24β14 lead.
The Rainbow Warriors (1-0) controlled the first two sets, defeating the Highlanders (0-1) by margins of 14 and 11 in sets one and two, and looked to close out NJIT for a clean sweep in the opening match of the 2026 season.
Rouhliadeff Cleans Up Late as HawaiΚ»i Outlasts UTEP
After a slow first half, the University of HawaiΚ»i Rainbow Warriors found themselves in a tight 55β52 battle with a gritty UTEP Miners squad late in the second half.
With 3:00 remaining, senior forward Gytis Nemeiksa launched a three from the right wing that rattled off the back iron. Senior forward and team captain Harry Rouhliadeff was there to clean it up, muscling through two Miner defenders for a putback layup to push HawaiΚ»iβs lead to 57β52.
Campbell strikes past Kamehameha in OT, 26-23, for first Open Division State Championship
With one clutch strike, Campbell quarterback Brayden Medeiros threw a perfect 17-yard pass to Zayne Pasion for the winning touchdown Friday night to lift the Sabers to a thrilling 26-23 overtime victory over Kamehameha and the school's first First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Open Division Football State Championship.
Toumi Seizes the Moment as Hawaiβi Edges UC Davis in Big West Opener
With 12 minutes left in the first half, senior starting center Isaac Johnson picked up two quick fouls, booking his ticket to the bench earlier than expected. The University of Hawaiβi Rainbow Warrior basketball team was clinging to a slim 17β14 lead despite a hot start, trying to hold off the UC Davis Aggies. Stepping in for Johnson was graduate forward and Seton Hall transfer Yacine Toumi, who typically plays in shorter spurts behind the senior center. But tonight, Toumi had to shoulder the load β and he delivered.
Kailua rallies past, then holds off Kapa'a for first state title
In a defensive power struggle that ended with fireworks, Kailua rallied past -- and then held off -- Kapa'a, 13-9, Friday night to win its first First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Division I Football State Championship.
An official crowd of 2,512 at John Kauinana Stadium watched the Surfriders score the go-ahead touchdown with 3:31 remaining and then seal the victory with Keoki Cypriano's interception with 25 seconds left to finish the season at 12-3. The Warriors, who had taken a 9-6 lead on Yair Antonio's 22-yard field goal on the second play of the fourth quarter, came up just short in a repeat state title bid and ended up 8-2.
Campbell rallies past Kahuku, 15-12, for state title game berth
In a race to the pylon, Campbell's Tainoa Lave dashed and dived into the right front corner of paydirt with two seconds remaining Friday evening to lift Campbell to a stunning 15-12 victory over Kahuku in a thrilling First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA State Championship semifinal game at John Kauinana Stadium.
The Sabers (8-3) will be making the school's first appearance in the Open Division state title game on Dec. 5 against Kamehameha (5-4); their only other state championship taste was the Division II win against 'Iolani in 2004. Kahuku, the defending state runner-up, ends its season at 8-4.
Warriors Hold Off Utah Tech to Claim Consecutive Rainbow Classic Titles
For the first time in 21 years, the University of Hawaiβi Rainbow Warriors have won back-to-back Rainbow Classic titles, defending their crown at the oldest-running tournament in the country.
Hawaiβi controlled the first two days of the tournament, routing Mississippi Valley State (1-5) 88β56 and Manhattan (3-2) 86β56. Senior center Isaac βBig Fishβ Johnson posted 25 points and 11 rebounds in the win over Manhattan, setting up a championship matchup with Utah Tech.
Hawaiβi Stuns First-Place San Diego State with Dominant 38β6 Win
As the rain poured down throughout the game, junior nickelback Elijah Palmer lined up in his slot position. Already up 31-6 with 2:07 left in the third quarter, the University of Hawaiβi Rainbow Warriors had carved up the San Diego State defense and were shutting down the Aztec offense just as effectively.
Blocked Out! Hawaiβi Smothers Matadors for Payback Sweep
After being swept on the road by the Cal State Northridge Matadors, the University of Hawaiβi Rainbow Wahine volleyball team avenged that loss in emphatic fashion, defeating the Matadors in straight sets last night.
The Rainbow Wahine were firing on all cylinders, racking up 40 kills as a team while committing only nine errors for a .316 hitting percentage on the night. Hawaiβi also delivered nine service aces, treating this match with playoff-like intensity.
Behind Arceneauxβs Dominant Night, βIolani Regains State Throne
After falling to the Kamehameha Warriors a year ago, the βIolani Raiders reclaimed the state crown, sweeping the Kahuku Red Raiders to capture their fifth state championship in program history.
Sophomore middle blocker Elle Arceneaux led the charge for βIolani (17-1, 11-1 ILH), posting 10 kills and three block assists while coming up clutch in key moments to help secure the title. Her performance earned her OC16 Player of the Game honors.
San JosΓ© State Air Attack Too Much for Hawaiβi in Road Defeat
Coming off its second bye week of the season, the University of Hawaiβi Rainbow Warriors were unable to extend their winning streak to four games, falling to San JosΓ© State.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Micah Alejado turned in a strong performance despite the loss, completing 31 of 46 passes for 376 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore wide receiver Jackson Harris led Hawaiβiβs receiving corps with six catches for 134 yards and two scores.
Kapolei holds off Mililani, 21-14, to reach first OIA Open Division final
Chazz-Michael Kapahu rushed for 148 yards and one touchdown and Valoia Amitoelau added the 11-yard go-ahead TD run with 8:17 remaining Friday night to help visiting Kapolei hold off Mililani, 21-14, to advance to its first OIA Open Division football championship game in school history.
Hawaiβi Basketball Legend Anthony Carter to Have No. 23 Raised to the Rafters
After an illustrious 13-year NBA career, former University of Hawaiβi guard Anthony Carter returns to MΔnoa, where his No. 23 jersey will be raised to the rafters of the Stan Sheriff Center.
Carter, one of the greatest players in Hawaiβi basketball history, led the Rainbow Warriors to their first Western Athletic Conference (WAC) regular season title and left UH as the programβs all-time leader in assists per game (6.9). He also ranks third all-time in total assists for a single season (212), a mark he set during the 1997β98 campaign.
Rainbow Wahine Ride Reidβs Hot Hand to Three-Set Victory
Already up 24-14 in the third set, sophomore setter Adrianna Arquette found the ball for a set, setting up a signature play.
As Arquette lifted the ball, sophomore middle blocker Miliana Sylvester slid from her middle pin spot, initiating her trademark Rainbow Slide and slamming the ball down on the other side of the net.
Benches cleared, and the Stan Sheriff Center erupted.

Facing 4th & 1 at the Colorado State 35-yard line with just 2:30 left in the fourth quarter, sophomore running back Cam Barfield and the University of Hawaiβi offense found themselves in a pressure-packed moment. Holding onto a narrow 24-19 lead, a successful conversion could ice the game. A stop, however, would give the Rams a golden opportunity to steal the win.
Barfield wasnβt interested in leaving it up to chance.
Taking the handoff, he broke through the line of scrimmage, shed a would-be tackler, and sprinted 35 yards to the end zone.
Old Friends, New Foes: Hawaiβi, Colorado State Ready for Mountain West Duel
The Rainbow Warriors are on the road again, this time in Fort Collins to face off against the Colorado State Rams and a familiar face.
While at the University of Nevada as a wide receivers coach, Hawaiβi Head Coach Timmy Chang worked under now-Colorado State Head Coach Jay Norvell. The two remain close, with mutual respect running deep.

Flavell received offers from numerous schools along the West Coast and had just returned from a visit to the University of Hawaiβi, but was nowhere near a decision.
Wahine Look to Bounce Back on Longest Road Trip of the Season
After dropping two matches this past weekend, the University of Hawaiβi Rainbow Wahine volleyball team heads out on its longest road trip of the season: a three-match Southern California swing facing Long Beach State and UC San Diego.
Though Hawaiβi has now lost three straight, Assistant Coach Nick Costello still has high hopes for the Wahine squad.
Alejado Torches Aggies for 413 Yards in Statement Win
With 2:31 left in the fourth quarter, Utah State quarterback Bryson Barnes dropped back in the pocket, desperately looking for an open receiver. Barnes let go of a desperation pass over the middle to senior wide receiver Kahanu Davis, but it was intercepted by junior linebacker Jamih Otis, who blanketed Davis in coverage.
Hawaiβi kneeled out the clock, and the Clarence T.C. Ching Complex erupted.
For the first time in 15 years, the Rainbow Warriors beat Utah State by a score of 44-26, and did it in style, bidding farewell to the Aggies as they head off to the Pac-12 Conference.
