Blocked Out! Hawai‘i Smothers Matadors for Payback Sweep
After being swept on the road by the Cal State Northridge Matadors, the University of Hawai‘i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team avenged that loss in emphatic fashion, defeating the Matadors in straight sets last night.
The Rainbow Wahine were firing on all cylinders, racking up 40 kills as a team while committing only nine errors for a .316 hitting percentage on the night. Hawai‘i also delivered nine service aces, treating this match with playoff-like intensity.
Rainbow Wahine Ride Reid’s Hot Hand to Three-Set Victory
Already up 24-14 in the third set, sophomore setter Adrianna Arquette found the ball for a set, setting up a signature play.
As Arquette lifted the ball, sophomore middle blocker Miliana Sylvester slid from her middle pin spot, initiating her trademark Rainbow Slide and slamming the ball down on the other side of the net.
Benches cleared, and the Stan Sheriff Center erupted.
Wahine Look to Bounce Back on Longest Road Trip of the Season
After dropping two matches this past weekend, the University of Hawai’i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team heads out on its longest road trip of the season: a three-match Southern California swing facing Long Beach State and UC San Diego.
Though Hawai’i has now lost three straight, Assistant Coach Nick Costello still has high hopes for the Wahine squad.
Wahine Fall to Cal Poly in Straight Sets, Suffer First Home Sweep Since 2023
Down 24-20 and facing match point, the University of Hawai’i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team were searching for a spark. After a deflating second set in which Hawai’i managed just 14 points against a sharp Cal Poly attack, the Wahine turned to youth, and found a temporary answer.
Freshman outside hitter Cha’lei Reid delivered a crucial kill through the Mustangs’ block to make it 24-21, igniting the Stan Sheriff Center crowd and breathing life into a potential rally. On the next point, senior outside hitter Tyla Reese Mane kept the momentum going, finding the back row for her 10th kill of the night and cutting the deficit to two.
Rainbow Wahine Return Home Looking to Regain Momentum in Big West Play
After a mixed-bag road trip, the University of Hawai‘i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team is back at the Stan Sheriff Center to continue Big West Conference play, facing off against the Cal Poly Mustangs and the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos.
Despite entering the season as the Big West preseason favorites, the Rainbow Wahine haven’t quite lived up to expectations so far. Hawai‘i holds a 6-9 overall record and sits at 2-2 in conference play. Still, associate head coach Kaleo Baxter and the rest of the coaching staff remain confident in the squad.
Rainbow Wahine Split First Big West Road Trip
In their first conference road trip of the season, the Rainbow Wahine bounced back with a solid win over Cal State Bakersfield, but couldn’t carry that momentum into their next match, getting swept by Cal State Northridge.
Hawai‘i took down the Roadrunners (8-6, 1-2 Big West Conference) in four sets (25-20, 25-23, 25-18, 25-17) behind a huge night from sophomore setter Adrianna Arquette, who recorded her second career triple-double with 14 kills, 28 assists, and 20 digs. She led the team in all three categories.

In front of a packed Stan Sheriff Center, sophomore setter Adrianna Arquette stepped up at the service line with a do-or-die aloha ball in a grueling fifth set.
Arquette was having a career night, recording the University of Hawai’i Wahine Volleyball team’s first triple double since 2018. Playing setter and outside hitter in place of an injured junior outside hitter Stella Adeyemi, Arquette delivered when it mattered most.

After a tough 0-3 road trip to the Farm, the University of Hawai‘i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team returns to the Stan Sheriff Center this weekend to kick off Big West Conference play, facing UC Riverside on Friday and UC Davis on Saturday. Both matches are set for 7 p.m.

On its first road trip of the year, the University of Hawai’i Rainbow Wahine Volleyball team went 0-3 at the Stanford Invitational, losing 3-0 to Stanford and UCLA, and 4-1 Texas State.
The Wahine could not get the offense going in Palo Alto, hitting .179 against Stanford, .090 against UCLA, and .142 against Texas State.
