Hawaiʻi Comeback Comes Up Short Against Stanford in Season Opener
The Rainbow Warriors erased a 16-point fourth-quarter deficit and briefly took the lead, but Stanford answered late to hand Hawaiʻi a 37-27 loss in Saturday’s season opener.
Quarterback Micah Alejado threw for 269 yards and two touchdowns as UH scored 20 unanswered points to take a 27-23 lead with 4:06 remaining. Stanford responded with the go-ahead touchdown before adding a defensive score in the final minutes to seal the win.
Hawaiʻi returns home to face UNLV in its Mountain West opener on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 4 p.m. HST at the Clarence T.C. Ching Complex.
