Kapolei Rolls Past Maryknoll for First-Ever Division II State Title

Kapolei completed a dominant postseason run Saturday night, defeating Maryknoll 77-19 to win the inaugural Hawaii Dental Service/HHSAA Division II Girls Flag Football State Championship at John Kauinana Stadium.

Tournament Most Outstanding Player Taimane Amisone led the way, throwing for 464 yards and eight touchdowns while completing 37 of 44 passes without an interception. The Hurricanes finished with 578 total yards and scored touchdowns on 12 of their 15 drives.

Bayle Brooks and Kaylyce Kauwe each caught three touchdown passes, while Kapolei’s defense added five sacks and an interception in the blowout win.

Maryknoll quarterback Puaena Herrington passed for 285 yards and three touchdowns to Zoe Silva, who finished with 230 receiving yards.

The title marked Kapolei’s first-ever Division II state championship after the HHSAA added the new division this season.
