UH Athletics to Receive $5 Million in Private NIL Funding
The University of Hawaiʻi will receive $5 million in private funding over the next five years to support its Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) efforts, according to a report by the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
The commitment will provide $1 million annually for UH student-athletes and comes from five donors contributing $200,000 each per year: Bank of Hawaiʻi, First Hawaiian Bank, Matson, Walter Dods and Jack Tsui.
The funding is expected to strengthen UH Athletics' ability to support and retain student-athletes as NIL opportunities continue to play a significant role in the college sports landscape.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported that the funding will go directly toward the university's NIL budget, providing a substantial boost to the program over the next five years.
