In front of a packed Stan Sheriff Center, sophomore setter Adrianna Arquette stepped up at the service line with a do-or-die aloha ball in a grueling fifth set.

Arquette was having a career night, recording the University of Hawai’i Wahine Volleyball team’s first triple double since 2018. Playing setter and outside hitter in place of an injured junior outside hitter Stella Adeyemi, Arquette delivered when it mattered most.

After a tough 0-3 road trip to the Farm, the University of Hawai‘i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team returns to the Stan Sheriff Center this weekend to kick off Big West Conference play, facing UC Riverside on Friday and UC Davis on Saturday. Both matches are set for 7 p.m.

Head Coach Robyn Ah Mow emphasized the importance of strong practices this week, especially coming off their first road trip of the season and the loss of star outside hitter Stella Adeyemi to injury.

On its first road trip of the year, the University of Hawai’i Rainbow Wahine Volleyball team went 0-3 at the Stanford Invitational, losing 3-0 to Stanford and UCLA, and 4-1 Texas State. 

The Wahine could not get the offense going in Palo Alto, hitting .179 against Stanford, .090 against UCLA, and .142 against Texas State.

Riding a four-match win streak, the University of Hawai’i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team hits the road for the first time this season to compete in the Stanford Invitational. There, they’ll face a trio of formidable opponents: Stanford, UCLA, and Texas State.

After a first set filled with miscues and errors, the University of Hawai’i Rainbow Wahine Volleyball team found themselves in a back-and-forth second.  

Up 28-27 following a clutch kill by freshman outside hitter Cha’lei Reid, senior middle blocker Bri Gunderson entered into the game hoping to provide an instant spark.

Coming off an OUTRIGGER Invitational Championship, the University of Hawai’i Rainbow Wahine Volleyball team sets its sights on the University of Portland Pilots.

 “It was a full team effort,” Associate Head Coach Kaleo Baxter said. “We played better ball from start to finish.”

After starting 0-4, the University of Hawai’i women’s Volleyball team has won their last six matches, completing another sweep over the St.John’s Red Storm to claim the OUTRIGGER Resorts Invitational.

As the Stan Sheriff Center rose to its feet, freshman outside hitter Cha’lei Reid stepped up to the service line with confidence in a dominant third set. The University of Hawai’i Rainbow Wahine Volleyball team had a commanding lead, already up 2-0 on the Utah Valley Wolverines.

Down 13-12 in a do-or-die fifth set, freshman outside hitter Cha’lei Reid rose to the occasion. Off a precise set from sophomore Adrianna Arquette, Reid soared from the left pin and hammered home a kill to tie the set at 13 all. But despite the momentum swing, the University of Hawaiʻi Rainbow Wahine Volleyball team came up just short, falling to San Jose State 15-13 in the deciding frame.

Volleyball is back in Mānoa as the Rainbow Wahine kick off their 2025 campaign with the Rainbow Wahine Volleyball Classic! This tournament at the Stan Sheriff Center features four postseason-caliber teams and sets the stage for what promises to be another exciting year of Wahine volleyball.
